Germany - Our Focus Investment Market

Germany is the world`s 3rd largest economy, with GDP of €2.2 trillion.  The country accounts for c. 35% of Euro zone output.

The country is a global leader in technology (e.g. Siemens, SAP, Bosch); automobiles (Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, VW); chemicals and pharmaceuticals (e.g. BASF, Bayer, Merck) and is home to many leading consumer goods labels.

Germany has excellent road, air and sea infrastructure, facilitating an efficient and productive economy.

While a leading exporter of goods and services, Germany`s home market of 82m people also generates a solid local demand.  That large population makes the country a key market for international retailers and traders.

Unit labour and output costs have been reducing year on year in Germany, boosting the country`s competitiveness.  That in turn drives export performance; Germany is the world`s largest exporter by monetary value measures, a remarkable achievement given its relatively smaller size and population compared to the other leading exporters.

The international recession has impacted Germany`s export and manufacturing base in 2008 and 2009.  As a result the German economy is suffering at present, but has the fundamental productive capacity and competitive strengths to return to growth as the international economy stabilises.
